Position Summary

We are looking for a Controls Engineer who is energized by solving problems, learning new technologies, and supporting the people who keep manufacturing operations running. The ideal candidate is someone with a solid foundation in industrial automation and controls, but more importantly, someone who brings curiosity, accountability, and a positive attitude to work every day.

This position is part of the Facilities Engineering team and plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations within a heavy industrial environment. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel to improve equipment reliability, resolve technical issues, and implement automation and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting and resolving controls, automation, and process-related issues.
  • Partners with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, safety, and performance.
  • Assist with programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC-based control systems.
  • Support setup, tuning, and optimization of PID control loops and other process control systems.
  • Diagnose issues involving instrumentation, sensors, drives, HMIs, networking, and industrial automation equipment.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action efforts related to equipment downtime or process disruptions.
  • Develop and maintain controls documentation, standards, drawings, and procedures.
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and new system installations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, equipment uptime, and process consistency.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined in CFR 120.62
  • Fundamental understanding of industrial control systems and automation principles.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking, instrumentation, and process control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar PLC platforms.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control systems, instrumentation, and process automation equipment.
  • Exposure to SCADA systems, industrial networking, or manufacturing data systems.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, foundry, metals, aerospace, or other heavy industrial operations.
  • Experience managing or supporting controls-related projects from concept through implementation.
