Job summary

nVent seeks a Controls Engineer to support our NPI Test Development, turning test requirements into robust automation for production testers. You will implement, debug, and sustain control systems powering our new testers, ensuring they are reliable and ready for manufacturing.

The role collaborates with the NPI Test Development Engineer to translate needs into scalable, maintainable control solutions, with a focus on safety, instrumentation, and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Ideally 5+ years in controls/automation or production test systems.
• Hands-on PLC programming and HMI development.
• Strong instrumentation and electro-mechanical systems background.
• Experience with end-of-line test systems in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Implement and debug control systems for new production test equipment, including PLC logic and HMI interfaces.
• Support development of testing processes; ensure controls architecture meets test requirements.
• Assist in equipment procurement and integration, review specs, support FAT/SAT with machine builders.
• Collaborate to transition new testers into sustained production support.
• Develop and maintain data acquisition and logging systems for test results and equipment performance.
• Support helium leak testing and functional testing by implementing control logic, sequencing, and safety interlocks.
• Apply modular design to improve maintainability and scalability of controls architectures.
