Job summary

Monroechamber in Pleasant Prairie, WI seeks a Controls Engineer to own PLC-controlled production equipment and lead next-generation automation initiatives. You will bridge controls and manufacturing, troubleshooting PLC code and improving processes on the shop floor.

The role focuses on Allen-Bradley platforms, HMIs, sensors, and vision systems, with emphasis on standards, documentation, and uptime improvements. Collaboration with operations and quality is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and RSLogix/Studio 5000 programming and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on engineering on production equipment on the shop floor.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with HMIs, sensors and vision systems in manufacturing.
• Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Own and support PLC-controlled production equipment and drive automation initiatives.
• Troubleshoot and improve RSLogix and Studio 5000 programs.
• Support HMIs, sensors, vision systems, leak testers, and automation equipment.
• Develop controls standards, documentation, and programming best practices.
• Improve equipment reliability, uptime, and overall system performance.
• Partner with external automation resources as needed.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes and assembly methods.
• Design and enhance fixtures and tooling.
• Support new product launches and equipment validation activities.
• Establish process specifications and manufacturing standards.
• Drive productivity, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Leadership teams.
• Support production troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Help define automation and manufacturing requirements for future programs.
• Contribute to long-term automation and equipment strategies.
