Job summary

Founders Brewing Company (Mahou USA) in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Controls Engineer to provide hands-on PLC programming, troubleshooting, and controls optimization in a 24/7 hybrid manufacturing environment. You will work with electrical systems, HMIs, VFDs, and automation to support reliable production and equipment modernization.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Maintenance, Engineering, and IT, with a focus on safety, documentation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or higher in a related field and 5+ years of controls experience.
Proven ability to create, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs in a manufacturing setting.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Create, develop, modify, and maintain PLC programs for new and existing equipment.
Troubleshoot PLC logic, I/O, control circuits, networks, and automation systems.
Configure HMIs, VFDs, and other automation technologies; maintain drawings and docs.
Support root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, and IT on OT integration and upgrades.
Assist startups, commissioning, and validation of new equipment; coordinate with vendors.
