Job summary

LVI Associates is partnering with a rapidly growing owner/operator of mission-critical infrastructure to hire a Controls Engineer for a hands-on leadership role across multiple facilities in Austin, Texas.

You will own industrial control systems, lead automation projects from concept to commissioning, troubleshoot PLC/SCADA networks, develop standards, and collaborate with operations, engineering, and vendors to improve reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Experience with PLC programming, SCADA, industrial networking, controls architecture, and automation systems.
• Experience leading projects, vendors, and contractors in critical environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 40%.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls and automation projects from concept through commissioning.
• Troubleshoot and optimise PLC, SCADA, and industrial control systems.
• Develop control philosophies, standards, documentation, and operating procedures.
• Support upgrades, expansions, and capital projects across multiple sites.
• Manage third-party contractors, vendors, and system integrators.
• Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for critical system issues.
• Oversee commissioning, testing, QA/QC, and handover of new systems.
• Support ongoing maintenance, alarm management, reporting, and system performance improvements.
• Act as the technical SME for controls and automation across the portfolio.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule supporting 24/7 operations.
