Job summary

Thermo Systems LLC in Sparks, NV is seeking a Controls Engineer III to join our team. You will lead design, integration, and delivery of automation projects across industrial settings, guiding tasks from design through commissioning.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 4+ years in automation, with strong PLC programming, HMI development, and field-testing experience. Travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Typically 4+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or system integration environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering tasks or small project scopes.

Responsibilities

• Lead start-up and commissioning of control systems.
• Lead and perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for automation systems.
• Interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and electrical wiring diagrams.
• Develop and implement HMI and PLC-based automation solutions.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and commissioning teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Provide updates on progress, risks, and technical challenges to project leadership.
• Support field teams and commissioning personnel during system installation and testing.
