Job summary

Spring Automation in Nashville designs, builds, and installs controls systems for the material handling industry. The Controls Engineer will lead and contribute to controls engineering on projects, spanning electrical design, PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, and on-site commissioning.

Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead, you will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to deliver safe, reliable systems, travel up to 40% as needed, and drive continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics engineering
• 5+ years' experience in controls engineering or material handling
• Hands-on PLC programming experience (Rockwell Automation preferred)
• Experience in HMI/SCADA development
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical and CAD tools
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
• Willingness to travel up to 40%

Responsibilities

• Contribute to or lead controls engineering on material handling projects
• Develop, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs (Rockwell)
• Design and develop HMI/SCADA applications
• Support commissioning lead with on-site commissioning
• Participate in project planning, milestones, and execution tracking
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams
• Provide input into system design and continuous improvement
• Travel up to 40% depending on assignment
