Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer II to design, develop, test, and implement control software for industrial refrigeration and HVAC equipment.

You will join a collaborative engineering team delivering advanced controls for chillers, air handlers, and smart building products that optimize energy efficiency and decarbonization efforts. You will apply MATLAB/Simulink, embedded C/C++, and model-based design to create robust, maintainable solutions.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Software or Systems Engineering (MS preferred).
• 4–6 years in controls, automation, embedded systems, or related engineering.
• Experience developing control algorithms and software using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Model-based design for embedded systems and control concepts, modeling, simulation, data analysis.
• Experience supporting product development, validation testing, and troubleshooting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to read embedded C/C++ code and use Python or MATLAB scripting.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and support control software for chillers and air handling units.
• Develop reliable, maintainable code using MATLAB/Simulink and model-based design.
• Apply control theory to develop robust control solutions and analyze data.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers throughout development.
• Participate in lab and field testing to validate performance and troubleshoot.
