Qualifications

• Bachelors or higher in a related field with 2+ years experience for level II; advanced degrees or experience for higher levels.
• Experience in developing, programming and maintaining control systems for manufacturing equipment.
• Familiarity with data visualization/dashboards and industrial networks.
• Ability to debug, test, and deploy control software and support teams.

Summary

Brewer Science, Inc. is a major innovator of high-technology solutions for the semiconductor / microelectronics markets. We are currently seeking a purpose-driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill an open position as a Controls Engineer II, III, or IV. This position will be located in Dayton, OH.

A Controls Engineer will develop and implement control systems for manufacturing and facilities equipment. This position is responsible for developing, programming, configuring, installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and supporting software to maintain automation equipment and lean initiatives.

Controls Engineer II

• Support and maintain controls programs (C#, .NET) based on standard programming methods.
• Support and maintain controls using Allen-Bradely systems.
• Debug and commission controls systems at facilities during system integration.
• Support and maintain AVEVA PI software for data visualization and dashboards.
• Perform work that involves conventional types of plans, investigations, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features that have precedents and require investigation of a limited scope.
• Provide thorough testing of machine functionality to verify that the software program meets the project requirements.
• Configure and maintain industrial networks including: EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet and Managed switches.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve problems with control systems throughout the organization.
• Work with the controls team to support the development of electrical, controls, software, and data collection systems.
• Develop software solutions to provide data access and alerts to manufacturing, beta groups, and various other teams.
• Participate in the documentation of software and firmware components.
• Additional duties as Controls Engineer II:
• Independently support manufacturing activities and address issues with software or control systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new controls systems.
• Assist in the training of new team members and provide guidance on best practices in controls engineering.
• Contributes new ideas to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Responsible for assignments that meet specified objectives and timelines with moderate complexity.
• May present project findings at internal and externals meetings.
• Complete documentation for the software, electrical control systems, alerts and alarms, and data systems created by the controls teams.
• Provide training and education to employees and contractors/vendors supporting the control systems.
• Work inside platforms to maintain and implement historian applications and alarm systems.
• Develop Software for PLCs using structured text and ladder logic.
• Support the optimization of software for performance and efficiency.

Controls Engineer III

• Same duties as Controls Engineer II
• Additional duties as Controls Engineer III:
• Participate in company-wide collaboration to develop and implement a control and monitoring and analysis framework.
• Design components of software and design systems.
• Maintain relationships with vendors.
• Mentor lower-level engineers and technicians, provide technical guidance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
• Follow new practices, trends, and standards in the field by reading journals, attending professional meetings and conferences, holding discussions with experts, etc.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of software.
• Optimize and refactor existing code for improved performance.
• Contribute ideas to assignments that need professional knowledge.
• Interpret, monitor, and analyze data to resolve moderately complex issues in non-routine research and data.

Controls Engineer IV

• Same duties as Controls Engineer III
• Additional duties as Controls Engineer IV:
• Plan and conduct work requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation of standard techniques, procedures, equipment designs, and key criteria.
• Perform complex assignments with instructions relating largely to the overall project objectives and limits.
• Lead and document equipment installations and commissions.
• Guide the development of new systems to improve consistency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
• Lead complex projects developing software or controls systems for new equipment and projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with organization goals and objectives.
• Represent the controls team on project teams to develop and optimize software to support new process capabilities.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies and best practices to enhance organization.
• Develop and implement advanced control strategies to enhance process performance.
• Mentor and coach entry- and mid-level engineers, fostering their professional development and knowledge enhancement and providing technical guidance.
• Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and select control hardware.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve critical issues and challenges in controls engineering.

Controls Engineer II

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related discipline and 2+ years of experience or
• Master’s degree in relevant discipline or

Controls Engineer III

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another related field with 4+ years of experience or

Controls Engineer IV

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another related field and 6+ years of experience or
