Job summary

Ultipro seeks an Electrical Engineer I – Controls to support development and commercialization of small-scale processes and manufacturing equipment. You'll lead basic PLC/HMI programming, update electrical schematics, and coordinate integration of new automation on existing lines.

You will participate in cross-functional teams, perform testing and validation, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, and OSHA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an electrical-related field with exposure to PLC programming in a manufacturing environment, or an associate degree/Journeyman in a related technology field with four years of programming/automation experience.
• In lieu of a degree, additional years of related experience may be considered.
• Basic knowledge of PLC/HMI/Servo/VFD programming (Rockwell Automation platform).
• Basic knowledge of automation networks and communications (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ASi, ControlNet, DH+, Remote I/O, RS232).
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or comparable electrical design software.
• Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic schematics, and P&ID drawings.
• Strong analytical skills and exposure to project management.
• Awareness of NEC, NFPA, and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Modify and write new, basic PLC/HMI/other system programs.
• Update and create fundamental electrical schematics.
• Determine requirements for new simple equipment/systems.
• Install new basic automation on existing equipment and coordinate installation.
• Perform testing, validation, and complete required paperwork and training for new systems.
• Troubleshoot issues, determine root causes, and lead corrective actions.
• Identify and replace obsolete components for small-scale projects.
• Recommend spare parts and manage inventory needs.
• Update and create P&ID drawings.
• Obtain quotes for parts or services and coordinate small-scale contractor tasks.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and update machine safety systems.
