BW Design Group, part of Barry-Wehmill er, is expanding its data-center focused team in the United States. As a Controls Engineer, you will join a ground‑level team delivering on-site deployment of control systems, networking, and integrated technology.

You will configure equipment, validate system functionality, and support commissioning across greenfield sites, with leadership to subcontractors and a path to growth in a fast‑growing vertical.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience starting up control systems with significant on-site time.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and commission BMS/EPMS across greenfield data centers.
  • Configure PLCs, SCADA, and ignition applications.
  • Provide on-site guidance to BW Design Group subcontractors.
  • Lead deployments in one of BW's fastest growing verticals.
  • Grow expertise in emerging data center markets.
  • Support client relationships through consistent delivery.

BW Design Group is a leading engineering and technology firm operating at the intersection of digital infrastructure and industrial solutions. As the data center market experiences unprecedented growth, we are expanding our team to support the long-term deployment of large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure across key regional clusters.

As a Controls Engineer working on data center projects, you'll be on the ground executing the structured deployment of control systems, networking infrastructure, and integrated technology solutions. Your work will be hands-on, configuring hardware, validating system functionality, and supporting commissioning activities. You'll be part of a high-performance site team that ensures every deployment is executed safely, accurately, and efficiently in alignment with program standards.

You will be joining an established operational effort supporting some of the largest and most advanced data center clusters in the world. Success in this environment requires attention to detail, consistency in execution, and a strong commitment to following established processes.

What You'll Do
  • Ensure the successful deployment of multiple greenfield data centers; scopes will include BMS and EPMS
  • Receive the applications from the design team and deploy them to each site
  • Handle point-to-point check out of thousands of devices
  • Configure communication protocols for multiple types of equipment including switchgear, breakers, and power meters
  • Configure and calibrate instruments (meters, VFDs, flow meters)
  • Deploy and commission Ignition applications, Rockwell controls, and other similar control systems involving PLCs and SCADA
  • Provide on-site guidance and leadership to BW Design Group subcontractors (electricians)
  • Become a key contributor on one of the fastest growing verticals at BW Design Group
  • Develop deep expertise in a major emerging market

What You'll Bring
  • Candidates must be willing to relocate to a project site for at least one year
  • Relocation timing is negotiable and dependent on location and opportunity
  • Bachelor's or associate's degree in engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience starting up control systems with significant on-site time
  • Strong communication skills and the ability/desire to work within large teams
