Job summary

Magnit Direct Sourcing, on behalf of Toyota, is hiring a Controls Engineer for a 12-month contract in Liberty, NC. The role focuses on battery manufacturing data analytics, system validation, and internal control requirements for data collection in the Battery department.

The engineer will coordinate with NAMC Team Members, support capital projects through SOP, and travel up to 25% domestically/internationally as needed. Weekend/off-shift work may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with production prep of network systems and launch.
  • PLC reading, interpretation and modification capability.
  • SQL/Oracle or other databases.
  • Experience with Cisco networks and machine networks.
  • Experience with PLC protocols (FL Net, Ethernet-IP, RFID, RS232/485, CC-Link, Modbus).
  • Experience using visualization tools for andon or HMI (Ignition).

Responsibilities

  • Support shop floor-level implementation of network systems including andon and MES, plus connectivity to higher IT-managed systems (MOM).
  • Configure battery network systems plans and specs using OPC-UA, CC-Link, SQL, and SCADA.
  • Configure PLCs (Mitsubishi) for network connectivity using SLMP, Ethernet TCP/IP.
  • Develop intuitive visualizations for line status and health indication.
  • Set up, configure and provide long-term support for servers.
  • Collaborate across functions and boundaries to drive project progress.
  • Set up and maintain Cisco switches; troubleshoot network issues.
  • Plan and monitor installation of network systems and address field issues with coordinators.
  • Maintain detailed schedules and support a safe incident-free culture.
  • Participate in a mentor program and stay current on Industry 4.0 advancements.

Magnit Direct Sourcing on behalf of Toyota is currently hiring a Controls Engineer for a temporary assignment in Liberty, North Carolina.

This is a 12-month contract. The pay range for this role is between $55.00 - $65.00/Hr. Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K

Who We’re Looking For
  • We're looking for a passionate and highly motivated Controls Engineer to work in the Battery group focused on controls engineering. The primary responsibility of this position is to set up and verify systems used for battery manufacturing data analytics and to support new model launches. Other responsibilities include developing, specifying, coordinating, and executing all internal control requirements for data collection for the Battery department. Documentation of the planning and implementation of these systems is required, as well as training for the local NAMC Team Members on these systems.
  • This position will be located at TBMNC in Liberty, NC and report to the Engineering Manager for Battery.
  • The person in this role will support the Battery department's objective to execute Capital Projects from planning thru Start of Production (SOP).
  • The successful candidate must be effective at identifying and removing roadblocks that hinder progress. They should be capable of identifying appropriate work priorities, developing and executing detailed schedules, and proactively reporting their status to the management group. Working as a team in a cross-functional environment is paramount for success.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Support shop floor-level implementation of network systems, which includes andon and Manufacturing Execution System (MES), as well as connectivity to higher level IT-managed systems, i.e. Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM).
  • Support battery network system plans and specifications, applying knowledge of OPC-UA, CC-Link, SQL, and SCADA system implementation.
  • Configuring manufacturing equipment PLCs (primarily Mitsubishi) for network systems connectivity using SLMP, Ethernet TCP, and Ethernet IP protocols.
  • Support implementation and intuitive visualizations for line status and health indication.
  • Setup, configuration and long-term support of servers.
  • Collaborating across functional, company, and international boundaries to drive progress and achieve project goals.
  • Setup Network and maintain Cisco switches. Troubleshoot network issues.
  • Planning and monitoring installation of network systems, identifying field issues, and working closely with construction coordinators to countermeasure.
  • Supporting and maintaining detailed schedules
  • Contributing to the “zero incidents is possible” safety culture by exemplifying safe work behaviors, complying with Toyota construction safety requirements, and correcting unsafe conditions.
  • Participating in a mentor program to grow as an engineer and learn from others.
  • Staying up to date on industry best practices and advancements in Industry 4.0.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field or 5+ years of equivalent professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with production preparation of manufacturing network systems, validation, installation, pre-production trials and launch.
  • PLC experience including the ability to Read, interpret and modify.
  • SQL / Oracle or other database experience.
  • Experience with Cisco networks and maintain a machine network.
  • Experience developing code and troubleshooting communication protocols (FL Net, Ethernet-IP, RFID, RS232/485, CC-Link, Modubus, and other PLC protocols.
  • Experience using Ignition or other visualization tools for andon or HMI.
  • Ability to support weekends, off shift, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work the two shutdown times of the year in July and December
  • Ability for business travel, both domestic and international will be up to 25%
Added Bonus If You Have
