Job summary

TekWissen Group is seeking a Controls Engineer for a 12-month onsite assignment in Georgetown, KY. You will support the EES Assembly Planning team with design reviews, buyoffs, installation, commissioning and equipment start-up.

Responsibilities include PLC programming/troubleshooting (ToyoPuc, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, or Allen‑Bradley), reviewing specs, and implementing improvements to safety, quality and productivity.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience is required.
• 4+ years of industrial maintenance/equipment experience.
• Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting (multiple vendors).
• Ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% (domestic and international).
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work overtime when needed.

• Review equipment specifications and design; identify improvements and perform vendor buyoffs.
• Install equipment, verify safety, quality, and productivity; support commissioning.
• Troubleshoot and program PLCs (ToyoPuc, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, Allen‑Bradley).
• Train Maintenance staff on new equipment; share SME knowledge with NAMCs.
• Travel up to 20% to NAMCs in the US, Canada, Mexico and possibly abroad.

Job Description:

Who we’re looking for:

• Client's Engineering Excellence & Strategy Assembly Planning Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Assembly Technician/ Controls Engineer.
• The primary responsibility of this role is to provide technical/skilled support to EES Assembly Planning Engineering team.
• This includes design/drawing review, buyoff support, install/commissioning, and equipment start up support.
• Reporting to the Advanced Equipment & Equipment Standards Manager (AES), the person in this role will support the EES Assembly Planning department's objective to provide high quality, low cost and reliable plant Equipment and control systems

What you’ll be doing:

• Review equipment specifications and design, identify improvements, conduct vendor buyoffs to confirm equipment functions,
• Install equipment, verify safety, quality, and productivity of equipment.
• Investigate to determine modification requirements. Implement modifications. Trial and adjust.
• Lower cost and decrease project time by overseeing installation by vendor and facilitating kanban process.
• Improve equipment quality and productivity by implementing adjustments, as identified during online vehicle trials.
• Install, set-up, and troubleshoot ToyoPuc and Allen-Bradley, etc. program controllers
• Provide training to Maintenance members on newly implemented equipment
• Share Subject Matter Expert knowledge to local NAMC Maintenance and Production Members
• Travel up to 20% at times. Engage in travel to U.S., Canada and/or Mexico NAMCs and suppliers, as well as foreign travel including Japan, Canada, Mexico. Commonly work overtime, including weekends and holidays

Requirements:

• Strong PLC programming/troubleshooting (ToyoPuc, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, or Allen Bradley) + 4 years
• Comprehensive knowledge of PLC's +6 years
• Comprehensive knowledge of Electrical circuits and Industrial controls + 4 years
• 2-year technical degree or completion of trade school program (EET or Industrial Maintenance Technology) and/or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings
• Ability to travel up to 20% at times. (Including International travel)
• Ability to work up to 20% overtime when required.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs on occasion
• Ability to frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching on varying surfaces.
• Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
• Good vision and hand-eye coordination for detailed repairs.
• Proficiency with MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word, TEAMs

What you may bring (Nice to Have):

• 4+ years Industrial maintenance experience
• Knowledge of Industrial Robot programming and teaching
• Knowledge of AGVs/AMRs programming and set up
• Knowledge of safety scanners and programming.
• Knowledge of various industrial controls networking, EthernetIP, FLNet, ProfiNet ect.
• Automotive manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge in client Machinery Standards (NA-AMS, G-AMS, Machinery Risk Assessment, etc)
• OSHA 10 certification
