Job summary

General Motors in Kokomo, IN is seeking a Controls Engineer to analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical problems in manufacturing. The role requires the ability to work autonomously and in a team, with guidance as needed.

The position focuses on designing and modifying control circuits and programs, supporting CNC equipment and robots, and leading cross-functional problem-solving to improve processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of Industrial Control System experience.
• Proficient in PLC and HMI programming; troubleshooting servo and VFD systems.
• Knowledge of Profinet/Profibus/Ethernet.
• Willing to work various shifts; off shift required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical problems in manufacturing operation.
• Design and modify electrical control circuits and programs
• Perform a wide range of engineering tasks on CNC equipment / robots using engineering software and hardware.
• Lead technical problem solving with cross functional team to drive continuous improvement.
• Implement new technology to improve manufacturing processes.
• Develop and plan electrical projects
• Oversee project installations by contractors and plant electricians
• Support and/or train skilled electricians
• Maintain electrical equipment
