About This Role

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, documenting, and programming building automation systems (BAS) in line with project plans and specifications. Effective communication with project teams and stakeholders is essential, including managing RFIs and assessing technical risks and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design complete building automation systems, including controllers, sensors, networks, and hardware specifications.
• Create sequences of operation for building systems when necessary.
• Document BAS designs and manage revisions.
• Configure WebCTRL systems using SiteBuilder for site-specific needs.
• Program control algorithms, including third-party integrations using Eikon.
• Develop graphical and text-based interfaces with Eikon and ViewBuilder.
• Test programming and interfaces before deployment.
• Support system commissioning and final documentation updates.
• Ensure compliance with project, company, and customer standards throughout all phases.
• Provide technical support during sales to ensure customer requirements are met with optimal solutions.
• Identify project opportunities and risks related to costs, timelines, and technical aspects.
• Create RFIs promptly and communicate proactively with managers and teams.
• Adhere to safety standards and uphold Carrier’s ethics code.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 4 years of HVAC or BAS controls experience
• Willingness to travel up to 20%
• Ability to climb ladders or lift equipment over 8 feet and up to 50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or construction discipline plus 2+ years in HVAC controls.
• Ability to modify and write sequences of operations for HVAC systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Visio or similar CAD software.
• Familiarity with Automated Logic products and enterprise IP networks.
