Job summary

ProMach, Inc. through Rennco in Homer, MI, seeks an Electrical Engineer to design and implement controls for packaging equipment. You will develop PLC, HMI, and Motion Control programs and create complete design packages with BOMs and drawings.

You will collaborate with mechanical design and manufacturing, travel may be required, and a 4-year engineering degree with RSLogix proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in controls/electrical engineering or related field.
  • Proficient with RSLogix 500/5000 software.
  • Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, I/O devices, drives, servos, Motion Control, and networking.

Responsibilities

  • Commission, download, test and debug controls systems on packaging equipment.
  • Create full design packages including BOM, detail drawings, and layouts.
  • Validate design documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop PLC, HMI and Motion Control programs for projects.
  • Provide technical support to service and customers.
  • Research and evaluate new controls products and provide feedback.
  • Coordinate with mechanical design and manufacturing teams to resolve problems.
  • Educate and train others as required.
  • Travel for projects may be required.
  • Assist Director of Engineering with tasks.

Rennco is a division of Pro Mach, a leading provider of integrated packaging and processing solutions for over 20,000 customers worldwide. Through multiple brands, Pro Mach provides product packaging and processing equipment, PMMI certified training, installation, parts, and service for primary and secondary packaging, flexible packaging, end-of-line packaging, and identification and tracking.

  • Commission, download, test and debug controls systems on various types of packaging equipment.
  • Create full design packages including BOM, detail drawings, assembly drawings and layouts.
  • Check and validate all final design documentation, parts lists and drawings according to design and contract requirements, to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop PLC, HMI and Motion Control programs for assigned projects.
  • Provide technical support to the service department and customers in the field as needed.
  • Research and evaluate new controls products, giving feedback and recommendations.
  • Confers with mechanical design and manufacturing personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develop electrical designs.
  • Educate, teach and provide training and/or resources to other employees when required.
  • May be required to travel for projects.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by Director of Engineering

  • 3-5 years in the field or related area and is familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Proficient with current versions of RA RsLogix 500 and 5000 software. Other controls related software experience is a plus.
  • 4 year degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field desired – or –
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to successfully handle a multi-tasked role.
  • Ability to handle and coordinate multiple projects concurrently.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of applications and components including pneumatics, I/O devices, AC/DC drives, servos, operator interfaces, Motion Control, network communications, etc.
  • Experience in packaging equipment preferred.
