Trucent, Inc. is seeking an Automations / Control Engineer in Noblesville, IN to lead control system development and field support for fluid processes.

Responsibilities include programming PLCs, HMIs, and coordinating with project managers and technicians, with emphasis on Allen-Bradley and Schneider software tools. Qualifications

  • Engineering degree from ABET-accredited university preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience programming controls using Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs.
  • 5+ years in panel design.
  • 3+ years programming FactoryTalk/Pro-face HMI.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including ladder logic, wiring schematics, single lines and P&IDs.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs, networks, drives, instrumentation, and control panels using Allen-Bradley hardware (MicroLogix, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PanelView).
  • Create and maintain PLC programs and HMI applications with RSLogix 500/5000 and FactoryTalk; use GP-Pro EX and BLUE for HMI development.
  • Troubleshoot complex equipment failures; replace control hardware and support on-site commissioning and start-up.
  • Support field technicians remotely and assist with factory acceptance testing of modules and systems.
  • Design new electrical and control equipment; inspect existing systems and update CAD drawings.

To build upon a track record of growth and success, we are seeking an Automations / Control Engineer out of Noblesville, IN

Responsibilities will include:
  • Develop, interpret, and maintain technical documentation, including Ladder logic diagrams, wiring schematics, single lines, and P&IDs. Perform and verify process control engineering for automation projects, including PLCs, networks, drives, instrumentation, and control panels.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Allen-Bradley hardware, including MicroLogix, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and PanelView to control a variety of fluid processes.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Allen-Bradley software, including RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000 and FactoryTalk to build and maintain PLC programs and HMI applications.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Schneider software, including GP-Pro EX and BLUE to build and maintain HMI applications.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical and electrical equipment failures within system architectures. Execute replacement of control hardware items as needed.
  • Support on-site commissioning and start-up activities, utilizing advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to resolve field issues
  • Remotely support field technicians and equipment operators to solve equipment issues. Support technicians with factory acceptance testing of modules and systems.
  • Manage inspection of existing electrical and controls equipment; design new electrical and controls equipment.
  • Assist with the development of mathematical models for system control (i.e, Calculation of control loop factors, timing of sequencing, scaling of sensor outputs, and signal conditioning).
  • Assist shop assembly with installation of control panels and control devices in equipment.
  • Accurately generate parts request.
  • With Department Manager, develop and maintain Trucent programming standards and library, including strict revision control.
  • Precisely redline and update electrical CAD drawings.
  • Proactively coordinate with project managers, engineers, field technicians, clients, and vendors/partners.
  • Prepare written Functional Control Descriptions and review with outside parties.
  • Complete detailed programming and/or review programs completed by others for compliance.
  • Communicate with in-house, contract, and customer programmers of various abilities to explain design intent and facilitate interface with other systems (e.g. DCS, other PLC infrastructure).
  • Establish and maintain remote access, via HMS Ewon products, to facilities for troubleshooting and updating programs.
  • Support technicians and customers as required
  • Keep supervisor advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress.
  • Comply with all aspects of the Trucent safety program, including but not limited to: hazard communication, PPE requirements, and scheduled safety training.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics.
  • AutoCAD and/or DraftSight experience is preferred
Position Qualifications:
Education:
  • An engineering degree from an ABET accredited university is highly preferred.
Experience:
  • 10 or more years of experience programming controls technologies using Allen Bradley PLC's, and HMI's. Specific experience with Compact Logix, Micro Logix, and PanelView 600.
  • 5 or more years' experience with panel design
  • 3 or more years of experience programming Factory Talk Panel View and/or Proface HMI.
Skills and Abilities, which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly, associated with this position:
  • Ability to program in multiple languages, including ladder logic, structured text and VB scripting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, control narratives, P&ID drawings, and installation instructions.
  • Strong technical and analytical proficiency with the ability to multi-task effectively and thrive in a team environment.
  • Ability to apply commonsense to understand and carry out instructions furnished in oral or written form and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing DCS integration for controls systems.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Perform reading, writing and speaking at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to perform at level of quality required to prevent losses in cost, service, production and/or damage to equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Travel Requirements:

Moderate travel may be required (up to 25%).
