Location: Hackettstown, NJ

Travel: ~10%, including occasional weekends/off-hours as needed

A leading engineering partner to data centers and critical power organizations is seeking a Controls Engineer for its Hackettstown, NJ office. This role centers on PLC programming for low and medium-voltage switchgear control systems (480V to 38kV). Experience with power systems is a plus, but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Program and configure PLCs (Siemens, GE Fanuc, Emerson) and SCADA/HMI platforms (e.g., Siemens WinCC, Wonderware InTouch).
• Design control systems, including one-line diagrams, schematics, and control panel layouts.
• Integrate and test protection relays, power meters, and automation systems.
• Support Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT).
• Troubleshoot PLCs, SCADA systems, relays, and power quality equipment.
• Develop technical documentation, including sequences of operation and test protocols.
• Provide training and ongoing technical support to customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• 8–10 years of experience in control system engineering with a strong focus on PLC programming.
• Solid understanding of switchgear design, protection relays, and electrical schematics.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
• Must pass a background check and comply with drug-free workplace policies.
