About the Role:

A leading industrial manufacturing facility in El Dorado, AR is seeking a Controls Engineer to support and enhance the reliability, efficiency, and safety of its automation and control systems. This role is integral to maintaining and developing the site’s control infrastructure, supporting both new and existing systems across production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC systems and associated I/O devices, HMIs, sensors, relays, and solenoids.
  • Support emergency maintenance and breakdown response with a hands-on approach.
  • Ensure control systems meet safety and compliance standards, including SIL/LOPA assessments.
  • Create, update, and archive instrument/electrical drawings, loop sheets, and PLC documentation.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to share control system strategies and mentor team members.
  • Participate in development and maintenance of IT/OT network infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation systems.
  • Working knowledge of industrial network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, Modbus, PROFINET, OPC UA).
  • Familiarity with ICS security and regulatory standards (e.g., PSM, DHS).
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Traits:

  • Experience in hazardous or process-heavy industrial environments.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure, safety-sensitive setting.
  • Strong team collaboration and knowledge-sharing mindset.
  • Must be comfortable working around industrial equipment, noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
  • Required to wear PPE including hard hats, steel-toed boots, gloves, and hearing protection.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
