Job summary

CMTA, a Legence Company, is seeking a Controls Engineer to partner with project managers, engineers, mechanical contractors, building owners, and utility companies to deliver fully engineered documentation for the installation of building automation systems and components.

Responsibilities include surveying building systems, obtaining schedules and submittals, developing control system documentation, laying out network diagrams, creating sequences of operation, and compiling installation

Qualifications

• Associates/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering and/or a certificate in HVAC.
• Advanced computer experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Ability to multitask and be self-motivated.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Sense of responsibility and ownership for projects.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Clear understanding of Company mission and values.
• Ability to work independently and as part of team.
• Detail oriented, organized, and results driven.

Responsibilities

• Survey building systems and equipment.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and vendors for schedules and submittals.
• Develop control systems documentation.
• Layout Control System Network Diagrams.
• Develop Sequences of Operation and System Points Lists.
• Create control schematics and wiring diagrams in Visio.
• Assemble Installation BOMs and equipment cut sheets.
• Maintain updated documentation for field personnel.
• Document jobsite changes with As-built drawings.
• Submit documents to engineers/owners/GC for review and approval.
• Develop systems checkout and commissioning reports.
• Assist in commissioning of mechanical and control systems.
• Support IT needs and advance EMS technology in the division.
• Provide remote support to customers and controls technicians.
• Engage with local utilities to optimize incentives and rebates.
• Lead training to advance EMS skillset.

Summary

The Controls Engineer will work with project managers, engineers, mechanical contractors, building owners, and utility companies to deliver completely engineered documentation for the installation of building automation systems and components.

Responsibilities

• Survey building systems and equipment
• Work with engineers, contractors, and vendors to obtain equipment schedules and submittals
• Develop control systems documentation
• Layout Control System Network Diagrams
• Develop Sequences of Operation and System Points Lists
• Utilize Microsoft Visio to Create Control Schematics and Wiring Diagrams
• Compile Installation Bill of Materials and Equipment Cut Sheets
• Maintain properly updated documentation for field personnel
• Document jobsite changes with As-built Drawings
• Assemble final Operation & Maintenance Manuals
• Submit to mechanical engineer/owner/general contractor for review and approval
• Develop systems checkout and commissioning reports
• Assist in commissioning of mechanical and control systems
• Advance Control Division’s use of technology and support IT needs
• Customer and controls technician support using remote access to their systems
• Work with local utility representatives to provide customer incentives and rebates
• Lead training to advance technician EMS skillset
• Developing standards for programming and graphics

Requirements

• Associates/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering and/or a certificate in HVAC
• Advanced computer experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
• Ability to multitask and be self-motivated
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Sense of responsibility and ownership for projects
• Excellent customer service skills
• Clear understanding of Company mission and values
• Ability to work independently and as part of team
• Detail oriented, organized, and results driven

Preferred

• (5+) years of Commercial HVAC or Controls experience
• Experience with Alerton, Distech, Tridium, Johnson, Siemens, or other control systems
• Construction project management experience

Compensation for this position is $70,000 to $90,000/yr
