Base pay range

We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design, development, programming, and troubleshooting of automated control systems for manufacturing equipment. This position involves hands-on work with PLC and HMI programming (Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms), as well as control panel design using AutoCAD Electrical or EPlan. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge and a proactive approach to supporting electrical engineering and automation needs in a manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical and automation systems for new and existing manufacturing equipment.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems, including Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.
  • Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical or EPlan.
  • Select and specify electrical components (motors, sensors, controllers, relays, etc.) based on performance, cost, and availability.
  • Oversee panel build, system integration, and equipment commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot control systems and electrical hardware to minimize downtime and optimize production performance.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and process engineers to ensure complete system integration.
  • Support the development and implementation of electrical safety standards and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of electrical designs, software changes, and field modifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (flexible for engineering experience)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical design and automation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens).
  • Experience with HMI development tools and industrial automation systems.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical or EPlan for schematic and panel layout design.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, sensors, actuators, and instrumentation.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience commissioning automated systems in the field.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus).
  • Familiarity with servo drives, VFDs, and motion control systems.
