Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an Electrical/Automated Manufacturing Engineering discipline or related engineering degree
• 5–10 years of hands-on experience in automation projects for manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of automation techniques, machine control systems, PLCs, pneumatics and programming
• Experience with RSLogix 5000, Visual Basic and AutoCAD is preferred
• Experience with LabVIEW programming and NI hardware is a plus
• Familiarity with ISO/TS/IATF requirements and safety standards would help
• Ability to work on several issues simultaneously and under pressure
• Excellent communication and documentation skills

**Job Title:** Controls Engineer**Department:** Product & Manufacturing Engineering**Reports To:** Maintenance and Engineering Manager**FLSA status:** Exempt**SUMMARY*** Support specifying, design and electrical engineering of manufacturing equipment and supporting databases for IRS/USA.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.* Support specifying HMI/software features and manufacturing equipment* Design electrical/control-wiring schematics on CAD system* Design of control logic and control schematics* Design ladder logic and relay logic* PLC programming RSlogix5000, Factory Talk View* Layout detailing and subassembly op panels* Bill of material and selection of component* System interfacing, power calculation, sizing of cable wires* Testing, start-up, debugging, and trouble shooting* \\*Support upgrading current assembly lines, machinery, jigs, fixtures to improve* Process control (error proofing)* User-friendliness on Human Machine Interface and self diagnostics* Data-collection* Start-up/setting instructions* Database Development* Support engineering department in development of control units for our sunroofs and the interfacing to the car* Support engineering department with programming of IRS testing equipment* Enhance knowledge of electronics/control systems etc within IRS/USA* Support MIS department on industrial computers and associated hardware* The control engineer will be the specialist for electronics/PLC and robot software for IRS/USA* Quality lead-time and cost control for each task assigned* Programming, debugging and start up of new automated assembly machinery, robots and Human-Machine-Interfaces* Write/change documentation for start-up/setting calibration of machinery* Continuous improvement actions (Kaizen) to optimize processes of the current machinery park by improving Human-Machine-Interface, adding error proofing, vision, and debugging. This is needed reduce WIP, down time, wasteful scrap and rework.* Support maintenance department in troubleshooting, solving machine breakdowns etc. if needed outside of the normal working hours. Prior experience in test equipment development based on NI hardware is preferred.* Skilled in common communication protocols and peripheral integration, including TCP/IP, serial port, Modbus, etc. Capable of independently completing equipment protocol parsing, command debugging and data analysis. Familiarity with vehicle communication is preferred.* Competent in data processing, signal filtering, anomaly judgment, timing logic and multi-device collaborative scheduling development, with understanding of closed-loop control for automated workflows. Has independently developed End of Line (EOL) test equipment**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**Bachelor of Science in an Electrical/Automated Manufacturing Engineers discipline or related engineering degree and 5 to 10 years of hands on experience.**LANGUAGE SKILLS**Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, machine control languages, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS**Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
