Job Overview

• Electrical Installation and Checkout Technician

What you will do

• Perform installation and checkout on a variety of systems utilizing codes, company procedures, engineering drawings and personal analysis.
• Work with "Prime" electrical contractors as required.
• Develop a positive interface with the customer to ensure confidence and satisfaction with the system installation.
• Provide work direction to other employees involved in electrical installation activities.
• Install raceways, cables and wiring to meet local or national codes, standards and customer system requirements.
• Lay out electrical controls installation to provide lowest total installed cost.
• Mount and terminate controls equipment as needed.
• Mentor and assist others as the local expert regarding electrical installation practices, requirements and cost estimates.
• Assist sales with electrical estimates, including walking retrofit projects.
• Determine and validate final termination points to equipment interfaced with the installed system (e.g., chillers, boilers, roof‑top units, etc.).
• Check out wiring and terminations of field‑installed equipment with test instruments as needed (e.g., volt meters, handheld testers, etc.).
• Keep management informed of job needs, progress and issues.
• Complete paperwork, including but not limited to timesheets, expense reports, and on‑site documentation.
• Provide feedback to JCI Engineering on changes and keep as‑built drawings current.
• Resolve job site conflicts regarding installation issues or escalates concerns to management as required.
• Communicate with the customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
• Adhere to Johnson Controls safety programs and policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain journeyman's level electrical license.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Working knowledge of local codes as it applies to controls.
• Experience in scope determination of installation materials.
• Ability to work independently.
• Leadership skills to support and direct the activities of electricians working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Preferred 4years of experience working as a journeyman, with hands‑on experience in low‑voltage HVAC systems.

Compensation

Hiring hourly range: $32–$44 (hourly rate determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
