Job summary

Monroechamber is seeking a Controls & Electrical Engineering Supervisor to lead a hands-on team responsible for the design, development, and implementation of electrical control systems for custom automated machinery.

The ideal candidate will guide and mentor engineers through the full project lifecycle, support continuous improvement, and partner with Mechanical, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Field Service. This role is on-site and direct-hire.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in controls engineering, electrical design, or industrial automation.
  • Experience leading or supervising engineering teams.
  • Experience designing control systems for custom machinery, automation equipment, or machine-building environments.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming, industrial automation, and machine controls.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols and motion control systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and controls issues throughout the equipment lifecycle.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Controls and Electrical Engineering teams while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Manage engineering workloads, staffing priorities, and resource allocation across multiple projects.
  • Oversee electrical system design, PLC architecture, machine controls, and automation software development.
  • Review engineering deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Provide technical guidance on complex automation, motion control, and electrical system challenges.
  • Support projects from design through manufacturing, installation, startup, and customer acceptance.
  • Work closely with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Field Service to ensure successful project execution.
  • Drive engineering process improvements, standardization efforts, and documentation best practices.
  • Assist with departmental planning, budgeting, scheduling, and long-term team development.
  • Serve as a technical resource during customer meetings, equipment commissioning, and issue resolution.

Job description

Position Title: Controls & Electrical Engineering SupervisorSalary: $100,000-$140,000 per year based on experienceWe are partnering with an established industrial equipment manufacturer seeking a Controls & Electrical Engineering Supervisor to lead a team responsible for the design, development, and implementation of electrical control systems for custom automated machinery.This is a hands-on leadership position that combines engineering management with technical oversight. The successful candidate will guide Controls and Electrical Engineers through the full project lifecycle while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and delivering high-quality automation solutions for customers.
