Job summary

Automation Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented CAD drafter near Beaverton, Oregon. You will produce precise electrical schematics and layouts from engineering sketches, convert drawings to BOMs for quoting, and maintain accurate design records. No drafting certificate or degree is required, but 2D CAD proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

  • Precision drafting of electrical schematics and layouts

  • Maintain design/documentation continuity across revisions
  • Manage and organize technical documentation

  • Familiarity with industrial control components and terminology
  • Proficiency in ANSI Y32.2/IEEE symbols and UL508A/NFPA 79 knowledge
  • 2D CAD skills; SolidWorks 3D is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate electrical schematic and layout drawings from sketches.
  • Translate drawings and 3D models into Bills of Materials for quotes.
  • Ensure as-built changes are captured in drawings and BOMs.
  • Maintain and organize technical documentation for the team.
  • Collaborate with team while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, contactors and related terms.
  • Apply standards proficiency in industrial electrical schematics.
  • Utilize 2D AutoCAD (DraftSight) and experience with SolidWorks preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Precision Drafting: Create accurate, detailed electrical schematic and layout drawings based on sketches and instructions provided by our engineering team.
  • Drawing Take-offs and Quoting Support: Translate drawings and 3D models into Bills of Materials supporting our active quoting requirements.
  • Documentation Continuity: Ensure continuity of design and documentation by capturing as-built changes in both the drawings and BOMs.
  • Technical Librarian: Manage and maintain the organization of technical documentation to support the team.
  • Team Collaboration: Maintain a positive attitude while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines. Industrial Automation Knowledge and Experience
  • Component Familiarity: Thorough familiarity with industrial control components (PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, Contactors) and terminology.
  • Standards Proficiency: Fluent in ANSI Y32.2/IEEE and IEC electrical schematic symbols. Applied knowledge of UL508A (Industrial Control Panels) and NFPA 79 (Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery).
  • CAD Skills: Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD (AutoCAD or DraftSight), experience with SolidWorks 3D is a bonus.

Compensation, Benefits, & What We Offer
  • Competitive Compensation: $58,000- 68,000/year (Non-exempt base with clear overtime protection).
