Job summary

ATS Industrial Automation in Ohio seeks a Controls Design Engineer to join a global automation team. You will design and commission world-class automation solutions, developing machine concepts and control software, and integrating software with electrical and mechanical systems.

Expect hands-on work with PLCs, robotics, motion controllers, vision systems, lasers, and related technologies, with opportunities for international travel.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in design, development, programming and commissioning automated systems or industrial equipment.
• Strong PLC programming, mechanical and electrical problem solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with robotics control systems and machine operation.
• Excellent communication, able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop PLC/PC-based control software per project requirements.
• Debug and commission control systems on-site and at our facility.
• Select and integrate robots, sensors, motion controllers, vision systems and lasers.
• Collaborate to improve controls methods for safety, functionality and cost.
• Ensure budgets and delivery dates are met and provide thorough documentation.
• Provide customer training on operation and programming principles.
