Job summary

Toyota Automated Logistics seeks a Controls Applications Engineer to estimate multiple controls projects and lead from concept to commissioning. You will cost engineer solutions, design panels, program PLCs, develop HMI layouts, and support the sales team with integration experience.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in controls, AutoCAD skills, and are eligible to work in the USA long term. Travel up to 10% is required as projects span diverse sites and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in engineering; 2+ years of PLC programming and panel design experience.
• Experience in controls projects, hardware/software integration, and cost estimating.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office; eligible to work in the USA long term.

Responsibilities

• Estimate and quote projects meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
• Develop accurate project schedules and cost estimates.
• Support engineering sales with integration experience for clients.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver complete system deliverables.
• Lead or assist in the inception to commissioning of control projects.
• Apply new controls technologies and improve existing processes.
• Cost engineer solutions prior to proposals and optimize system costs.
• Travel up to 10% for site work and client meetings.

Job Overview

The Controls Applications Engineer is responsible for accurately estimating multiple controls project opportunities simultaneously and will be knowledgeable in all phases of a controls project including concept and research, technical support, estimating, component selection, network design, safety, panel and electrical design, ACAD layouts, troubleshooting, PLC programming, HMI design, on site installation and debug. The controls applications engineer helps our company meet its mission to provide our clients with competitive advantage by designing and delivering world-class distribution and production solutions. The controls applications engineer will also help develop new controls processes, lead the integration and development of new controls technologies, assist in solving complex technical problems, and help train and develop the more junior controls engineers. The controls applications engineer will cost engineer solutions prior to submitting proposals and will also work with internal teams to cost engineer entire systems to ensure we are providing the best solution possible to our customers.

Job Functions

• Estimate and quote projects that meet or exceed customer's expectations
• Help develop an accurate project schedule
• Produce costing estimates that are highly accurate
• Contribute to project teams, providing help outside of controls scope when required
• Be a great team member and contributor within the office environment
• Establish beneficial relationships with our key supplier products and services
• Develop new controls techniques or equipment that will help maintain Bastian Solutions as a leader in our industry
• Develop accurate and competitive estimating for controls opportunities
• Support our engineering sales team with clients/customers through demonstrated integration experience
• Work with internal teams around overall project deliverables.

Travel Requirements

• Up to 10% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics)

Required Qualifications And Preferred Skills

• Bachelor of Engineering, Masters of Engineering (preferred)
• 2+ years’ experience, PLC programming experience, panel design experience, hands on and mechanical capabilities, controls project managing experience
• Extremely computer literate with MS Office products
• AutoCAD experience
• Material Handling Integration experience
• Experience with machine control electrical design, programming, and troubleshooting
• SCADA experience using Ignition (preferred)
• Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
