Job summary

The Kendall Group, Inc. (Midwest) seeks a Controls and Application Engineer to support the Galloup sales team in Michigan. You will develop control solutions, design wiring diagrams, and prepare detailed panel layouts for projects.

Responsibilities include PLC and HMI programming, reviewing P&ID drawings, selecting hardware, and communicating technical information to customers and internal partners. A bachelor’s degree in engineering and AutoCAD Electrical proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar software.
  • Ability to read P&ID drawings and customer specifications.
  • PLC and HMI programming experience or familiarity.

The Controls and Application Engineer supports the Galloup sales team by providing technical expertise throughout the sales and project process. The person in this role will develop solutions, prepare estimates, design control systems, and create detailed schematics and panel layouts. The Controls and Application Engineer will recommend appropriate products and communicate technical information to customers and internal partners. This position plays a key role in driving panel project opportunities.Exciting work you will do:The essential duties and responsibilities of the Controls and Application Engineer will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:Create estimates from designs, specifications, or verbal communicationDesign detailed wiring diagrams and panel layouts via AutoCADSelect hardware components and design electrical schematicsInterface with new or existing field devicesPLC and HMI programmingPerform duties related to the design, development, and implementation of PLC Control PanelsConfigure settings in hardware devicesRead P&ID drawings and customer specifications to be able to select correct productsReview applications that consist of but are not limited to: valve, flow, temperature, pressure, and level product sizing and selectionRecommend and/or analyze materials and equipment required for projectExplain and articulate product features and applicationsCompile proposals and reports related to technical productsClarify customer’s understanding of products and services, answering questions and offering relevant information Communicate project development to the customer, outside sales representatives, manufacturers, and location managerUnderstand customers’ needs and identify sales opportunitiesUnderstand the technical needs of the customer and suggest appropriate products and servicesCommunicate and coordinate project details with colleagues, as necessaryCommunicate with customers and vendors through various channelsProcess orders, quotes, and requestsRespond promptly to customer inquiriesFollow up with customers and resolve any issues that may ariseStay current on new and evolving product offerings; utilize knowledge in selling activitiesKeep customers and colleagues informed about new technological productsPerform other duties and projects as assignedCompetencies you possess:Customer FocusResults, action orientedAccountability and responsibilityTeamwork and collaborationDisplaying technical expertiseDetail orientedTime ManagementUnderstanding Others, ListeningContinuous learning mindsetWhat you’ll need:Work Experience: Entry Level engineeringEducation: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of skills and experienceAnalytical/Computer Skills: Critical thinking and an eye for detail; competent with MS Office and Excel; ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents and bid specifications; proficient with AutoCAD, AutoCAD electrical, or similar softwareOrganization Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed; ability to work in a fast-paced, continuously evolving environmentCross-functional skills: Ability to work well cross-functionally; provides excellent internal and external customer serviceCommunication Skills: Strong interpersonal communications, problem solving, organizational and written/verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical information to non-technical customers or team membersPhysical, Mental and Visual Skills: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
