Job summary

Schnitzer West, LLC seeks a Controller, Operating Investments to lead the property accounting function for a multi-entity portfolio of owned and third-party managed assets. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and disciplined cash management while supporting budgeting and lease-related accounting processes.

Qualifications

• Lead, supervise, train, and develop investment and property accounting staff; balance workloads, establish priorities, and manage deadlines across multiple reporting calendars and accounting systems.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, goal setting, performance management, succession planning, and development of accounting team members.
• Maintain documented cross-training and coverage plans to minimize impact during absences and peak reporting periods.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for the portfolio, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, financial statements, variance explanations, and ownership reporting.
• Oversee CAM estimates and reconciliations, budgeting, and lender reporting as part of the operating investments portfolio.
• Provide technical guidance and workflow coordination to corporate accounting and other departments.
• Collaborate with Investment Management, Asset Services, auditors and tax providers to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
