Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field is required.
• CPA certification or public accounting experience is required.
• Experience in accounting, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls is required; governmental/nonprofit/higher ed experience preferred.
• Ability to manage priorities, protect confidential information, and communicate with stakeholders.
• Strong technical accounting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret financial data and explain results clearly to non-financial audiences.
• Proficiency with enterprise financial systems and reporting tools; Ellucian Colleague preferred.
• Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical stewardship of resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting policy and financial-reporting authority, interpret GAAP and GASB requirements.
• Establish monthly close calendar and reconciliation standards; review entries and close results.
• Develop internal-control framework for Business Office activities and monitor deficiencies.
• Govern accounting and Business Office systems; partner with IT on security and upgrades.
• Evaluate changes to processes from risk and governance perspectives; sponsor redesigns.
• Develop a technology and analytics roadmap aligned with reporting and controls objectives.
• Collaborate on financial policies and institution-wide guidance; support audits.
