Job summary

Phoenix Tailings is seeking a hands-on Controller to own the accounting function for a fast-growing manufacturing company. You will lead financial reporting, internal controls, audits, and tax, and build the team and processes needed to scale multi-site production.

The ideal candidate has led accounting in manufacturing or high-growth environments, setting policy and executing the close, and enjoys building systems rather than inheriting them.

Qualifications

• CPA certification or strong candidate with deep GAAP knowledge.
• Experience designing and implementing internal controls in a scaling manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to lead accounting teams and coordinate audits and external reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own the accounting function end to end including general ledger and close processes.
• Establish and maintain GAAP-compliant policies and supporting documentation.
• Design, implement, and monitor internal controls over financial reporting for audit readiness.
• Manage annual audits and external reporting; act as primary liaison with auditors.
• Own tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions with external advisors.
• Lead, hire, and develop the accounting team across multiple sites.
• Own ERP and accounting systems roadmap; drive automation and scalability.
• Collaborate with FP&A, operations, and supply chain to ensure accurate cost accounting.
• Ensure compliance and cost accounting for government contracts and grants.
