We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Controller to join a newly established Family Office. This is a newly created position resulting from the transition from an outsourced provider to an in-house financial management model. The Family Office supports a portfolio of businesses originally established in New Mexico, with the principal family member now residing in Florida.

This is a unique opportunity to build and shape the financial infrastructure of a private family enterprise, working closely with the principal and a network of trusted advisors to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and strategic alignment of all financial operations.

Job Title: Controller – Family Office (Remote)

Location: Primarily Remote (Preference for candidates in Florida or New Mexico)

Salary Range: $125,000 – $150,000, commensurate with experience + comprehensive benefits

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions for the Family Office and affiliated entities
• Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting processes
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and reports for the family
• Support estate planning, philanthropic initiatives, and trust administration
• Lead the transition from outsourced accounting services to internal operations
• Oversee investment accounting and reporting, including tracking performance, reconciling statements, and coordinating with investment advisors
• Serve as the primary liaison with external partners, including:
• CPA firms for tax planning, compliance, and audit support
• Legal counsel for trust, estate, and entity structuring
• Investment advisors, insurance brokers, and other financial service providers
• Coordinate and oversee the timely delivery of information to external advisors and ensure alignment with the family’s financial goals and risk management strategies
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive financial and personal information

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of accounting/finance experience, with a strong preference for candidates with Family Office or High Net Worth client experience within a major CPA firm
• CPA designation strongly preferred
• Deep understanding of complex financial structures, trusts, and estate planning
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions
• Familiarity with investment reporting and performance tracking
• Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Proven ability to manage relationships with external advisors and vendors
• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and discretion
• This is a mostly remote position with occasional travel to Florida or New Mexico as needed
• Flexible work hours with a focus on results and responsiveness
