Must Have Family Office Experience

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Full-Time Controller for a high-net-worth family office overseeing various private assets, including yachts, aircraft, multiple residences, and several subsidiary businesses. The ideal candidate will possess 5 years of experience in managing complex financial affairs and meticulous bookkeeping.

Duties:

  • Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the family office.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all family assets, including private yachts, aircraft, multiple homes, and subsidiary businesses.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, proforma balance sheets, P/L’s budgets, and reports to provide clear financial insights to the principal and family office manager.
  • Perform all bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Tax Planning and Compliance:

  • Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, local filings
  • Liaise with family officer manager and provide accounts and information to external tax advisors and auditors as needed.

Expense Management:

  • Manage staff expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and accurate recording.
  • Monitor and control family and household expenses, providing regular reports to the principal.
  • Oversee expense reimbursements and manage petty cash.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for the principal and family office manager.

Asset Management:

  • Maintain detailed records of all family assets, including purchase, maintenance, and depreciation schedules.
  • Coordinate with property managers, yacht and aircraft operators, and other service providers to ensure efficient asset management

General Administration:

  • Provide general administrative support as needed.

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably within a family office or high-net-worth environment.
  • Extensive experience with tax compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and bookkeeping practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Discretion and confidentiality are paramount.
