Confidential construction contractor in the Chicago area is seeking a Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting, with an opportunity to move into a CFO role. This role oversees the general ledger, month-end close, job costing, and project revenue recognition.

You will supervise the accounting team, coordinate audits and lender reporting, and partner with leadership on budgets, forecasts, and cash flow. CPA preferred; 5+ years in construction accounting needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required; CPA is a plus.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with Controller or Assistant Controller level in construction.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Experience with construction accounting software such as Viewpoint Vista, Sage 300 CRE, or Foundation.

Responsabilités

• Oversee the general ledger, month-end close, and financial statements.
• Manage job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition on construction projects.
• Lead billing, AP and AR, payroll oversight, and certified payroll where it applies.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting for leadership.
• Coordinate audits, taxes, bonding, insurance, and lender reporting.
• Supervise and develop the accounting team.
