Executive Alliance is engaged to fill a full-scope Controller position on Long Island, reporting to ownership. The role is onsite in Nassau County with salary in the low-to-mid $300's, plus bonus and 401k match.

The Controller will supervise a team and oversee project accounting, treasury, audits, and ownership reporting. Successful candidates will have 10–30 years of experience, including 1–2 years as Controller or CFO, and strong ERP/Excel proficiency.

Job description

Full-scope, 'hands on' Controller opportunity reporting directly to ownership of this respected & growing mid-sized company on Long Island that focuses on large-scale commercial construction, property management and real estate development. Salary to low to mid $300's, plus bonus and 401k match. The role is open due to the upcoming retirement of the sitting Controller, as well as significant growth in new, large construction projects.

The Controller will manage both general and operational accounting, covering project-related accounting (AP, AR, Payroll, WIPs, etc. handled in-house), corporate accounting (month end close, F/S prep. etc.), as well as treasury & cash management, internal audit, ownership reporting, maintaining bonding / cash position, guiding and sponsoring IT implementation, being the point person for external audit, overseeing tax compliance, etc., and managing an Assistant Controller who supervises a staff of ~10, while working closely with company ownership.

Successful candidates will have ~10-30 total years of relevant experience, including at least 1-2 years as a Controller or CFO, and 5+ years of general accounting and operational (project-based) experience at a ground up construction company with project values commonly over $25M associated with construction of buildings over 100k sf, OR at LARGE subcontractors to commercial construction companies with large-scale infrastructure projects with project values commonly over $50M. Please note this role is NOT APPROPRIATE for candidates with experience ONLY or MAINLY at RE developers or property management companies. Experience at commercial construction companies or large subcontractors with project values noted above is a MUST.

Strong experience with ERP's and Excel is a MUST. Experience sponsoring and guiding IT implementation and integration is strongly preferred.

This role is onsite 5 days a week in Nassau County, Long Island.
