Job summary

Schaefer Homes is seeking an experienced Controller to own the books, close cycles, and drive financial discipline. This hands-on leadership role oversees the accounting team, runs Mark Systems (ECI), and reports to the President and CRO with timely, decision-ready numbers.

The role advances the move from reviewed to audit-ready financials, builds forecasting and KPI reporting, and grows into lender relationships and capital planning.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in homebuilding or residential construction accounting.
• Experience with job cost, WIP, and percentage-of-completion.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• ERP ownership and Mark Systems (ECI) experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close; deliver full financial package.
• Maintain job cost and WIP integrity; manage cost-to-complete.
• Own general ledger, reconciliations, and fixed assets.
• Manage loan draws, lender packages, and payoff reconciliations.
• Build 12-week cash forecast and weekly AP cycle.
• Produce budget vs. actuals and support business planning.
• Own CLA relationship and move to audit-ready financials.
