Job summary

Addison Group in Bethesda, MD, is seeking a hands-on Controller to build and lead its internal accounting function. This newly created role will transition key accounting responsibilities from an outsourced provider and own day-to-day accounting across multiple entities.

Ideal candidate has a CPA and proven experience building an accounting function from scratch, with strong expertise in intercompany accounting, consolidations, and entity-level reporting within financial services.

Qualifications

• CPA credential.
• Experience building an accounting function from scratch.
• Strong understanding of entity-level financial reporting.
• Proficiency in intercompany accounting and consolidations.
• Proven ability to establish scalable accounting controls and processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting and financial reporting across multiple legal entities and business lines.
• Transition outsourced accounting responsibilities to in-house, ensuring a smooth handoff.
• Own monthly and year-end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Establish formal close calendar with deadlines and clear responsibilities.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation.
• Improve chart of accounts and overall accounting infrastructure.
• Oversee payroll, revenue accounting, and related accruals; ensure compliance with controls.
