Job summary

Acara Solutions is seeking a Controller in Ft. Walton Beach, FL, to partner with the GM and direct all financial policies and initiatives. The role oversees a small finance team and is designed for someone ready to advance from Finance Manager to Controller with defense-government experience.

The position offers $180K–$195K base pay plus a 10% bonus potential (which can double) and relocation assistance. This is an ITAR facility requiring U.S. persons and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of government accounting experience, ideally in defense.
• Experience with SOX and GAAP.
• At least 1 year within a $75M-$100M revenue site.
• Cost accounting standards experience.
• 5+ years of Excel experience (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP).
• ITAR aerospace facility; U.S. Persons required; ability to obtain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial teams to achieve goals and meet deadlines while driving continuous improvement.
• Supervise accounting personnel and cross-train staff.
• Coordinate monthly closing with other departments and address Executive Leadership inquiries.
• Perform cash flow review, analysis and monthly forecasting.
• Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley controls and monthly certifications are up to date.
• Support CBS initiatives and manage the Finance group's Value Stream Map.
• Coordinate and manage external audits (tax, R&D credits, state, federal, local).
• Work with internal auditors to ensure compliance.
• Provide key metrics with detailed analysis.

Job Title: Controller

A candidate that has a Finance Manager title and is ready to move to a Controller position will be considered, as long as they have several years of government accounting experience (ideally withing a defense contractor).

About the Opportunity

The Controller is a business partner to the General Manager and plans and directs all aspects of the organization's financial policies, objectives and initiatives. The Controller is responsible for the attainment of short and long-term financial and operational goals and directs the development of the organization to ensure future growth. The Controller performs a variety of tasks and leads and directs the work of others and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This role is typical for sites <$100m.

3 direct reports - accounting manager, cost accountant, and accountant. The AP/AR person is on the team but this person reports to accounting manager.

What You'll Do

• Lead financial teams to obtain goals and meet deadlines while managing continuous improvement initiatives
• Supervise accounting personnel including cross training of key personnel
• Coordinate monthly closing with other departments and address comments and questions from the Executive Leadership team
• Complete risk assessments for both property and product liability
• Ensure Sarbanes Oxley controls and monthly certifications are up to date
• Support and drive CBS initiatives across the site and own Value Stream Map for the Finance group
• Coordinate and manage outside audits (Sales Tax, Research & Development (R&D) tax credit, State Tax, Property tax, Federal, City, internal audit)
• Work with internal auditors to ensure compliance
• Perform cash flow review, analysis, and monthly financial forecasting
• Perform monthly financial analysis including commentary and forecasting
• Provide key metrics with detailed analysis

Job Requirements

What You'll Bring (Requirements)

• Bachelor's in Finance or Accounting
• Min 7 years of experience in government accounting environment and preferably in defense, knowledge of SOX and GAAP (they will consider a senior accounting manager candidate ready for a controller title and responsibilities with the government experience)
• Min 1 year of experience within a $75M-$100M revenue site
• Min 1 year of experience in cost accounting standards
• Min 5 years of experience with Excel, pivots, v and x lookups
• This is an ITAR aerospace facility, U.S. Persons required. The ability to obtain a Secret clearance required.
