Job summary

The Chittenden Solid Waste District is seeking a Controller to lead its finance department for a countywide municipal organization with an annual budget around $16 million. You will oversee accounting, budgeting, payroll, receivables, and financial reporting while supporting program managers in financial management.

Requirements include a degree in accounting or finance with seven years of experience, three years in supervision; Master's and/or CPA and governmental accounting experience

Qualifications

• Seven years of accounting or finance experience with three years in a supervisory role.
• Degree in accounting or finance required; advanced degrees and CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the finance department and accounting operations for CSWD.
• Prepare and manage annual budget of approximately $16 million.
• Monitor expenditures, cash flow, payroll, receivables and financial reporting.
• Ensure internal controls and compliance in government accounting environment.

The Controller is responsible for the accounting and financial operations of the District, including maintaining financial records, organizing, and preparing the annual budget, managing computerized accounting system, overseeing financial controls, monitoring expenditures and cash flow, payroll, receivables, financial reporting, and compliance. The Controller will be a detail-oriented, hands-on and participative manager who leads and develops an internal staff of three and supports program managers to navigate financial management. Applicants should have: Degree in accounting or finance with seven years of experience, including three years of supervisory experience. Masters degree and/or CPA and governmental accounting experience preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and NetSuite preferred. Flexible hours offered for a full-time or a part-time schedule. Full-time salary starting range between \$95,000-\$110,000 with an excellent benefit package.
