Job summary

Weldaloy Products Company in Warren, MI is seeking a seasoned Controller to lead all accounting operations, ensure GAAP compliance, and provide strategic financial guidance. The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and supervises an accounting team.

You will prepare financial statements, manage budgeting and forecasting, implement internal controls, and collaborate across departments to optimize business performance. On-site position with occasional WFH available.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and at least five years of related experience.
• CPA is highly desired.
• Experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Experience with Plex ERP software is a plus.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• On-site position; occasional work from home with supervisor approval.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and publish financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow).
• Generate regular financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities.
• Coordinate and direct annual budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor performance vs budgets and forecasts.
• Recommend actions to address variances.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulations.
• Oversee accounts, general ledger, and revenue recognition.
• Ensure timely month-end and year-end close.
• Identify financial risks and mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate across departments on financial risk management.
• Lead and mentor accounting team.
• Provide training and support to enhance team capabilities.
• Serve as primary contact for external auditors.
• Respond to audit requests and ensure compliance.
• Provide financial guidance to senior management.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare and publish timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Generate regular financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
• Recommend corrective actions to address variances and improve financial outcomes.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant financial regulations.
• Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and revenue recognition.
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
• Identify and evaluate financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial risks are understood and managed effectively.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Working Conditions

This position is designed to work full‑time. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. An alternate schedule may be arranged or assigned based on the business demands, nature of duties performed, and other factors. Occasional flexibility to work evenings or weekends may be required as job responsibilities demand. Regular work, after hours and/or weekend work may be performed remotely, if the capability exists. Little to no travel is expected for this position. This position mainly operates in an office environment during work hours, but may be expanded to assist and support employees in other departments within the Company; Occasional exposure to production equipment and machinery. The employee will manage multiple priorities daily and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of employees. The environment may be busy and noisy. All required personal protective equipment is provided.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend most of his/her time sitting using computers and standard office equipment such as phones, photocopiers and fax machines. Occasional moving and/or lifting of 10 pounds, stooping, bending and reaching with hands and arms. While performing these job duties, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
