Job summary

R & H Mechanical in Colorado is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. This hands-on leader will maintain accurate records, strengthen internal controls, oversee accounting processes, and provide timely reporting to support leadership.

The role combines day-to-day accounting with financial planning and analysis, including job costing, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement within the mechanical contracting field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.
• Experience in construction, mechanical contracting, HVAC, or related industry strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll‑related accounting, cash management, and financial reporting.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Lead the month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Monitor cash flow and provide leadership with timely financial forecasts and analysis.
• Prepare annual budgets and monitor actual performance against budget.
• Analyze financial results, identify trends, and communicate key findings to company leadership.
• Oversee job costing and work‑in‑progress reporting and help ensure accurate financial tracking of projects.
• Review account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, banks, insurance providers, and other financial partners as needed.
• Support tax preparation, audits, and other regulatory or compliance requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, systems, and efficiencies.
• Partner with operations and leadership to provide financial insight that supports sound business decisions.
• Supervise, develop, and support accounting team members as applicable.
• Maintain confidentiality of company, employee, customer, and financial information.

• Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to both financial and non‑financial team members.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion.

Compensation

Salary Range: $100,000–$110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
