Role

We are seeking a technically strong accounting leader, ideally with 8+ years of public and private experience, to partner with the CFO to ensure that the business and its controls keep pace with this rapid expansion.

As Controller, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the accounting function including preparation of financial statements, leading the financial statement audit and spearheading financial system implementations that will scale with our growth. Additionally, you will be assisting the CFO, reporting and operations team for lender borrowing base reporting, covenant calculations, interaction with industry partners and investors, and detailed ad-hoc analysis.

Chief Financial Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, most importantly G/L and financial reporting
• Act as the internal subject matter expert on technical accounting issues including but not limited to revenue recognition, debt accounting and fair value measurements
• Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the accounting records at an audit-ready level
• Execute month-end closing, prepare monthly financial statements and other financial and operational reports, ensure all reporting deadlines are met
• Act as a key point of contact with lenders, shareholders, other external advisors and industry partners
• Assist CFO with forecasting and detailed financial modeling
• Assist CFO in all capital raise efforts
• Work collaboratively to improve financial, KPI, and dashboard reporting across the business
• Business partnering with senior stakeholders to influence decisions from a financial standpoint
• Ad hoc projects and reporting

Skills required

• Previous experience in an accounting leadership position, preferably within a rapid-growth or public company
• Public accounting experience is a plus
• Experience in specialty lending, FinTech or banking is a plus
• Experience with securitizations (public or private) a plus
• US GAAP expertise and significant experience in preparing financial statements
• Experience leading external financial audits
• Expertise with Microsoft Excel and enterprise accounting software
• Experience leading an ERP implementation is a plus
• Expertise with complex consolidations involving multiple entities
• CPA preferred but not required if experience depth is strong
• Confident communicator able to tackle problems logically and achieve buy-in from senior stakeholders
• Ability to learn quickly and excel in a lean organization; entrepreneurial spirit, a plus
