Job summary

Pennington Concrete & Utilities seeks an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead its accounting function in a family-owned, close-knit environment in Euless, Texas. The role covers day-to-day accounting, month-end close, payroll and tax compliance, and staff development.

A strong background in construction accounting, with WIP reporting and job costing, is required. Sage 100 Contractor experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily accounting operations and accounting staff
• Manage the month-end close process and review financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules
• Prepare and review WIP schedules, job costing, cost allocations, and cost reclasses
• Prepare monthly financial reporting and dashboards for leadership
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, intercompany activity, bank reconciliations, and recurring entries
• Review AR aging and retention balances and monitor outstanding reconciliation items

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, payroll and tax compliance, job costing, and the development of accounting staff. This position is required to work onsite in Euless, Texas.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in construction accounting and understands the unique financial processes of a construction environment, including WIP reporting, job costing, retention, and over/under billings. Previous construction industry experience is required, and experience with Sage 100 Contractor is preferred.
