You will report directly to the CEO and play a key role in ensuring strong financial discipline, operational efficiency, and scalable processes across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day accounting operations including AR/AP, payroll, and general ledger
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
- Oversee financial reporting and maintain compliance with accounting standards
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management in partnership with leadership
- Perform account reconciliations and maintain strong internal controls
- Manage and mentor the bookkeeper or junior accounting staff
- Monitor bank accounts, credit activity, and financial transactions for accuracy
- Build and improve financial processes, workflows, and systems to support growth
- Partner with department leaders to track budgets and improve financial performance
- Support leadership with financial insights to guide decision‑making
- Ensure compliance with labor regulations, state registrations, and financial policies
- Coordinate with external accountants on tax filings and audits

Qualifications
- 7+ years of accounting or finance experience
- Proven experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience managing accounting systems and financial software
- Background in budgeting and forecasting
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment in the Tri-State area
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in education, enrichment programs, or service‑based organizations
- Experience in high‑growth or multi‑location businesses
- CPA or advanced accounting/finance credentials
- Experience implementing or improving financial systems and processes
