Job summary

Cape is seeking a Controller who can scale our operations—from building a team to refining processes—while maintaining accurate books and supporting a high-velocity business day to day.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA, understands ASC 606 revenue recognition, and has 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 exposure, NetSuite and QBO proficiency, and hands-on journal entry work.

Qualifications

• CPA required with ASC 606 knowledge.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Big 4 experience preferred.
• Experience leading an audit end-to-end.
• Operational accounting in a fast-growth startup.

Responsibilities

• Own AR, AP, payroll, tax, and state compliance.
• Prepare and maintain audit-ready books and regular financial statements.
• Design and implement accounting processes and ERP system.
• Lead Cape through its first PCAOB audit.
• Build and develop an accounting team for growth.

Job description

• You will make an immediate impact by leveraging your accounting expertise and passion for building to update our processes to meet our stage of growth
• This role reports to our Head of Internal Operations
• Build robust processes: Design and implement accounting best practices that maintain high business velocity while meeting GAAP standards
• Design Systems: Implement an ERP, in partnership with other key stakeholders, and provide leadership in managing the quote-to-cash process
• Make Cape Audit-ready: Prepare Cape for, and then lead Cape through, its first PCAOB audit
• Own Financial Operations: Own AR, AP, payroll, tax, and state compliance. Prepare and maintain accompanying audit-ready books and regular financial statements
• Build a team: Hire and develop an accounting team ready to meet Cape’s next stage of growth
