Job description

Role Summary

As Controller, you will own the integrity of Revamp’s financial reporting and help strengthen the systems, processes, and data quality that power everything from project execution to company-wide decision-making. Working closely with the VP of Finance & operations and our outside accounting partners, you will lead the monthly close process, financial reporting, internal controls, forecasting, and financial analysis, lender compliance, audit readiness, tax and valuation support, and the financial narratives that leadership and employee-owners rely on. A strong Controller will independently own the company's accounting integrity, make sound judgment calls with limited oversight, and build the finance function needed for the company's next stage of growth. As part of an employee-owned firm founded to advance the global transition to renewable energy, this role has the opportunity to make an impact both internally and by moving our communities closer to a brighter, cleaner future.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Accounting Oversight + Financial Operations
  • Review the monthly close prepared by our outside accounting firm, including accruals, estimates, and support schedules; ensure issues are resolved before reporting.
  • Verify that accounting outputs reconcile to the budget, covenant calculations, and valuation model.
  • Exercise independent judgment on accruals, estimates, and accounting positions, and defend that judgment with outside advisors.
  • Step into lender, valuation, tax, and audit conversations as a prepared and credible backup to the VP of Finance & operations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, lender requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Prepare quarterly lender compliance packages, including covenant calculations, compliance certificates, agings, supporting schedules, and drafts of the management narrative.
  • Prepare the annual valuation package for the company's independent valuation firm, including financial data, projection support, and diligence responses.
  • Design, maintain, and improve internal controls over financial reporting and key business processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement of accounting and financial systems, reporting automation, and internal controls.
  • Own the corporate tax calendar and prepare supporting schedules, data, and draft reviews for the provision and returns prepared by outside tax advisors, including multi-state and international dimensions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the annual financial statement audit and employee benefit plan audits (401(k) and ESOP), running the PBC process and audit calendar end to end and bringing judgment calls to the VP of Finance & operations.
Planning, Analysis + Communications
  • Run the annual budget and quarterly reforecast, coordinating schedule production with the outside accounting firm and owning the analysis and narrative.
  • Maintain the rolling 12-month forecast, including revenue, labor costs, and cash flow.
  • Monitor cash position, liquidity, and working capital needs while supporting banking and treasury relationships.
  • Develop portfolio projections, including backlog conversion and pipeline-weighted revenue.
  • Develop driver-based forecasting and scenario analysis to support leadership decisions on hiring, pricing, and growth.
  • Partner with operational leaders to develop actionable performance metrics and improve business decision‑making.
  • Produce the monthly financial reporting package for the leadership team.
  • Develop and deliver regular financial communications to leadership and to all staff, translating financial results and structure for an audience of employee‑owners.
  • Build and maintain the company's key metrics framework, including definitions, data sources, and tracking cadence.
  • Conduct periodic audits of the operational data (project accounting, time and billing systems) that feeds close, billing, and reporting, and drive corrections at the source.
Quality + Collaboration
  • Participate in leadership and project meetings and communicate financial work clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with outside accountants, tax advisors, auditors, valuation professionals, and lenders.
  • Collaborate with billing operations, project management, and department leaders to deliver accurate and complete financial work.
  • Contribute to a team culture rooted in accountability, curiosity, quality, and shared commitment to Revamp's clean energy mission and values of Impact, Collaboration, Trust, and Equity.
  • Mentor finance staff by answering technical questions, reviewing work, and modeling strong practices.
  • Lead the continued development of the finance function by strengthening processes, enhancing systems, and expanding internal capabilities.
Additional Duties
  • Perform essential duties, including meeting deliverables and deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Active CPA required; inactive CPA or CMA considered with equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in industry or a combination of public accounting and industry roles.
  • Demonstrated experience building or rebuilding an accounting function, leading a team, and supporting external stakeholders (lenders, auditors, valuation firms, or investors).
  • Progressive accounting experience, including having personally led a monthly close process and designed, implemented, or improved accounting close procedures.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, corporate tax compliance processes, and financial statement audit support.

  • Experience overseeing outsourced accounting or managing significant outside advisor relationships.
  • Experience with project accounting and time and billing systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online, BigTime, or similar).
Benefits for Full-Time Positions:
  • Participation in Revamp's Employee Ownership ESOP program.
