Job summary

The Bolton Group is seeking a Controller to lead the finance and accounting organization in Torrance, CA. This hands-on leader will own FP&A, budgeting, product costing, and the full spectrum of accounting functions while partnering with operational leadership.

Responsibilities include steering month-end close, ensuring GAAP compliance, strengthening internal controls, and driving improvements across finance processes and systems to support strategic decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in finance or accounting, including strong manufacturing accounting experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of ERP systems experience required.
  • Prior supervisory or people management experience required.
  • Experience with Infor SyteLine, SAP, BW, OneStream, or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • Experience forecasting revenue, operating costs, labor, and SG&A expenses.
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing accounting, standard costing, and cost structure.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership capability in driving innovation, process improvements, and business results.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging across levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the finance and accounting team (team of 6).
  • Serve as the primary financial partner to functional leaders.
  • Advise leadership on the financial impact of business initiatives and investments.
  • Manage the full month-end close cycle, including statements and variance analyses.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.
  • Maintain internal controls across AR, AP, Payroll, Inventory, tax activities.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting for revenue, costs, and SG&A.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide actionable analysis to leaders.
  • Drive cost and process improvements through costing, inventory, and reporting.
  • Oversee Sales and Use Tax processes and tax-related activities.
  • Lead initiatives to improve finance systems, data, and automation.

Job description

The Controller is the financial leader for the organization. Reporting to theDirector of Finance, they will oversee all finance and accounting operations while serving as a trusted partner to operational and divisional leadership. This role holds broad ownership across financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, product costing, and direct oversight of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Sales and Use Tax.

This is a hands-on leadership role that demands both strategic thinking and operational execution - requiring a collaborative leader who develops talent, influences cross functional decision making, and drives continuous improvement across finance processes and systems
