JOB SUMMARY

The Controller for Kilgore Flares Company LLC (KFL) is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations. This includes preparing periodic financial statements, maintaining a robust system of accounting records, and implementing comprehensive controls and budgets to minimize risk, improve the accuracy of financial reporting, and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for participating in and leading day-to-day finance activities such as AP, AR, PP&E, inventory, banking, financial reporting, financial forecasting, program finance, and time reporting
  • Oversee the weekly cash forecasting and monthly financial close and account reconciliation process ensuring accuracy, timeliness and integrity of the data
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to the corporate parent as required
  • Manage month-end close process ensuring accuracy, timeliness and integrity of ERP system information and adequacy of internal controls
  • Develop, continuously improve and maintain Accounting and Finance processes and procedures
  • Prepare detailed cost and pricing files to support proposals and required reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage Inventory and Costing activities to ensure accurate product and job costing records, labor and inventory valuation, audit cycle count program and annual physical inventory
  • Assist the CFO with the timely completion of the annual budgets and monthly forecasts
  • Manage monthly budget variance analysis and dissemination to key stakeholders
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s financial systems, including Microsoft Dynamics D365 and UKG (Kronos)
  • Ensure all federal, state and local taxes are timely and properly filed
  • Manage internal and external audits including DCAA, DCMA, corporate, state, local, or customer financial audits
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Ensure adherence to corporate financial manual
  • Ensure adherence to BACM (Bribery Act Compliance Manual)
  • Liaison with Chemring US parent Company and other North American businesses
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Code of Conduct, U.S. Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and the Chemring Operational Framework
  • Ensure the Group ethos of all employees going home safely at the end of their working day is adhered to
  • Promote a high standard of ethical behavior and adherence to the Group’s core values, and promote a culture of honesty and integrity across KFL
  • Comply with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Special projects and additional duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • Typically supervises a variety of exempt and non-exempt employees
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant Finance and Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a government contracting environment preferred
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements
  • Manufacturing experience with a focus on inventory and costing required
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF)
  • Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite; exceptional Excel skills required
  • Acute attention to detail, accuracy and accountability balanced with sound business judgment
  • Effective understanding, analysis and reporting of key metrics
  • Excellent process and documentation skills
  • Self-starter with a high sense of urgency and ability to prioritize
  • Strong understanding of ERP software functionality (Microsoft D365 is a plus)
  • Capable of independent analysis with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and deal effectively with ambiguity and tight deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to mentor and teach early career general accounting team members
  • Must be a team-player with experience in a cross-functional environment
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer.
