Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with close exposure to financial reporting and audits.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience in software/SaaS industries is a plus.
  • NetSuite expertise and strong Excel skills.
  • Experience with ASC 842 and ASC 606.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and monthly/year-end closes.
  • Direct NetSuite management and system optimization.
  • Maintain reconciliations, asset schedules, and data integrity.
  • Create process documents and work instructions for the accounting department.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements under US GAAP.
  • Produce monthly management reports and board packages.

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Leadership this position will play a critical role in TruMed’s operations. In addition to managing the accounting team and process, the Controller will interact regularly with other leadership. The successful candidate will be a hands‑on leader with a demonstrated track record in developing and managing teams and building solid, scalable processes and systems. Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Systems Management
  • Day-to-Day Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and monthly and year‑end closes. Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and revenue recognition.
  • Systems Optimization & NetSuite Ownership: Direct the day-to-day management, ongoing use, and optimization of NetSuite. Lead continuous system improvements, integration of additional modules/plugins, and workflow automation.
  • Accounting Data & Reconciliation: Monitor all accounting data for precision and integrity. Maintain ownership of subledgers, fixed asset schedules, and comprehensive account reconciliations and analyses.
  • Process Documentation: Create and maintain process documents and work instructions for all processes in the accounting department.
Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Operational & Stakeholder Reporting: Produce monthly management operational reports, board packages, and specialized reports as requested by management.
  • Technical Accounting Policies: Develop, update, and maintain technical accounting policies and documentation across the organization.
  • Revenue Assurance: Review billings, contracts, and customer agreements to ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition in compliance with accounting standards (ASC 606).
Financial Planning, Budgeting & FP&A
  • Company-Wide Budgeting: Lead the annual corporate budgeting process, periodic forecasting, and long‑term financial modeling in partnership with executive leadership.
  • Departmental Variance Analysis: Track budget-to-actual performance across all business departments, performing detailed variance analyses and delivering actionable insights to department heads.
Treasury & Cash Management
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor daily cash balances, establish rolling cash flow forecasts, and optimize cash management strategies to support operational needs.
  • Banking & Credit Relationships: Manage relationships with banking partners and financial institutions, overseeing corporate credit facilities and debt compliance.
Internal Controls, Governance & Audit
  • Internal Control Framework: Design, document, implement, and enforce company-wide internal controls.
  • Audit Management: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors; plan, coordinate, and lead annual audits to ensure smooth execution and timely completion.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
  • Tax Filing & Compliance: Act as the primary point of contact for external tax preparers. Oversee the review and timely filing of sales and property tax returns.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure ongoing compliance with changing local, state, federal, and international tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing accounting team. Set performance goals, provide ongoing coaching, and promote continuous professional development.
  • Cross‑Functional Partnership: Partner with leaders across Sales, HR, Operations, Engineering, and Customer Support to streamline business workflows, improve data accuracy, and support strategic company initiatives.
Experience, Skills and Competencies
  • BS in Accounting or related field.
  • Combination of public accounting audit plus industry experience highly preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • >5 years of experience in accounting with at least 2 years in an equivalent position with responsibility for the quality and content of financial data, reporting and audit coordination.
  • Supervisory experience with strong people management skills is essential.
  • Software industry experience—and SaaS in particular—is preferred.
  • Experience in accounting software (NetSuite strongly preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills are a must, including proficiency with ASC 842 and ASC 606.

  • Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.

  • Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
