Job summary

Methodist Hospital seeks a Controller to lead financial reporting for Metropolitan and Northeast Methodist Hospitals and related entities. The role emphasizes monthly closes, budgeting, and detailed financial analysis to inform management decisions.

The ideal candidate will have a BS/BA in Finance or Accounting, 5+ years of financial/accounting experience, and 4+ years in progressive healthcare leadership. This is an incentive eligible, on-site role in San Antonio, TX.

Responsibilities

• Ensure integrity and accuracy of monthly financial close for Metropolitan and Northeast Methodist Hospitals and all associated entities.
• Coordinate month-end activities and analyze managed care revenue and contractuals by payer; perform global revenue/expense analysis.
• Prepare monthly financial reports including Executive Summaries and Net Revenue by payer schedules.
• Prepare annual facility budgets.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and maintain audit program and reporting distributions.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing leadership and direction. Direct Management responsibilities include planning, organizing, budgeting, controlling and directing, and cost/benefit analysis. Other responsibilities include general finance function, to include monthly financial reporting and all associated analysis, and to provide any and all needed financial analysis to management team to aid their decision making.

Essential Job Functions

• Ensures integrity and accuracy of reported financial information, to include all aspects of monthly financial close for Metropolitan and Northeast Methodist Hospitals, and all associated entities.
• Prepares specific detail month-end responsibilities, including: Coordination of all month-end activities, Detail analytical review of managed care revenue and contractuals, by payer, Global revenue and expense analysis and Global Balance Sheet account review.
• Prepares monthly financial reports, specifically: Monthly Executive Summaries and Net Revenue by payer schedules.
• Prepares annual facility budgets.
• Conducts routine (monthly) reviews of all balance sheet account reconciliations. Develops and maintains facility specific audit program and financial report distribution packet.

Qualifications

• Must have a BS/BA in Finance or Accounting.
• Must have four years of progressive leadership experience with proven leadership capabilities within the healthcare industry.
• Must have a minimum of five years of financial/accounting experience.
